A Special Investigation Team of the Maharashtra police, investigating the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, has raided the houses of Telugu Desam Party MLA and former minister C Krishna Yadav in Hyderabad.

The raids, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police P R Choudhary, began on Thursday night at the MLA quarters at Hyderguda and in another house at Lal Darwaza in the old city.

Police sources said some documents have been seized.

Yadav, now in police custody in Pune, is expected to be produced before the designated court on Saturday.

Soon after their arrival from Maharashtra, the SIT team met the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police S R Sukumara, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M V Krishna Rao and the state CID officials before going ahead with search operations.

The Andhra police is assisting the SIT team in the search operations.

The MLA's brother Mahender Yadav and other family members were questioned about his financial dealings, sources said. The Maharashtra police is on the lookout for Yadav's associates to ascertain their role in the racket.

Yadav, who represents Himayatnagar constituency in Hyderabad, was arrested by the Maharashtra police on September 6 following 'clinching evidence' in the form of an audio-tape believed to be containing his conversation with the kingpin of the fake stamp paper racket Abdul Kareem Telgi.
