A Siwan court on Monday rejected bail application of incarcerated Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Mohammed Shahabuddin in connection with the alleged abduction and killing of Munna Choudhury, a Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) activist in 2001.

Siwan Additional District and Sessions Judge B N Mishra rejected the bail plea after hearing the petitioner's counsel Ishtdeo Tiwari and additional public prosecutor Ramnath Prasad.

The court had on September 24 dismissed the bail application of Shahabuddin in connection with alleged assault  on sub-divisional police officer Sanjeev Kumar in 2001.

Kumar was assaulted by Shahabuddin and his men when he had gone to arrest one Thakur Manoj Das, an associate of the MP wanted in two criminal cases. They also fired at the SDPO to scare him. A first information report had been lodged by the SDPO in this connection with Muffasil police station of the district on March 15, 2001.

Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha had issued Shahabuddin's arrest order in the two cases last month in addition to three other cases. A district court had around a fortnight back granted regular bail to Shahabuddin in another case of assault on DSP Ashwani Kumar.
