Two explosions on a platform in Andheri railway station in suburban Mumbai caused panic among commuters on Monday night.

The blasts occurred on platform 4-5 that serves fast moving trains between Churchgate and Virar/Borivali. A part of the steps leading to a foot-overbridge was damaged. The platform was cleared of commuters.

Details of casualties, if any, are not known but some persons were injured as the blasts resulted in a stampede with people rushing towards the exits.

Initial reports said that two cylinders used by a food stall exploded within minutes of one another.

Local train services of the Western Railway have been disrupted with trains running behind schedule.
