The Bharatiya Janata Party national executive will meet in Mumbai on June 23 and 24 to take stock of the situation following the National Democratic Alliance government's defeat in the Lok Sabha election, party sources said on Friday.

At a meeting of the central office-bearers chaired by party president M Venkaih Naidu, the leadership discussed in detail the agenda for the national executive and how to set up a campaign against "tainted" ministers in the government, they said.

While the office-bearers will meet on June 22, the executive will meet on the following two days.

The strategy for the assembly elections in Maharashtra, where the party will contest in alliance with the Shiv Sena, will also be discussed, the sources said.
