Militants kill six people in J&K

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar | November 16, 2004 09:58 IST

A day before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, militants killed six people in central Budgam district.

Two counterinsurgents had come to celebrate Eid with their relatives in village Kawoosa when a group of militants struck at the house.

The militants tried to abduct the counterinsurgents and when the family members resisted, they opened fire.

The counterinsurgents and two women were among those killed.

The militants later escaped under the cover of darkness.
