Some computer accessories are reported to have been stolen from Vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's residence in New Delhi.

Computer disc writers and some other accessories have reportedly gone missing from the office of the vice-president's personal secretary at the former's Maulana Azad Road residence, police sources said on Friday.

The theft was detected on Wednesday after which a First Information Report was lodged, they said.

"Although the worth of the stolen property is only about Rs 50,000, the theft at the vice-president's residence, which is a heavily fortified complex, is a serious matter," they said.

Police believe that due to the security arrangements at the complex, no outsider could have stolen the items. A list of all those working and staying at the address has been prepared and police have started questioning them to identify the culprit, the sources said.
