Delhi police registered a case against Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit's daughter Latika Dikshit Syed after a city lawyer accused her of assaulting him.
Advocate Akshaya Kumar Sharma had to move a city court to get the Tilak Marg police to register the case, sources said on Thursday.
Metropolitan Magistrate G P Singh had on Monday asked the police to register a case against Latika after perusing a complaint filed by Sharma. The court also directed the station house officer to submit a status report.
Latika has been booked under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
Sharma had alleged that on August 25, while he was leaving his office, a blue Opel car with a home ministry sticker suddenly appeared in front of his vehicle near the chief minister's residence. Latika was driving the car, he claimed. She asked him to reverse his car but he could not oblige due to heavy traffic.
Latika then stepped out of the car and allegedly demanded that he turn back. When he did not, she called out to a man seated inside the car, who allegedly caught hold of Sharma's collar and threatened him.
Later, at her prompting, some more men - allegedly policemen in plain clothes - joined the duo and started shouting at him, Sharma said. The situation was brought under control after his cousin, also an advocate, apologized for their 'mistake', the complainant claimed.
