Communist Party of India general secretary A B Bardhan on Friday told the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre not to take his party's support for granted.

Bardhan said any "deviation" from the common minimum programme for governance may have serious consequences. "No written agreement exists between left parties and the Congress that we would continue our support. Any deviation from the CMP may lead to grave consequences," he said at the 6th national convention of the Samajwadi Party here.

Expressing strong reservations over UPA regime's decision to allow foreign direct investment in 'strategic' sectors like telecom, Bardhan said, "This may jeopardise our security environment and we will never support it."

Expressing happiness over the Samajwadi Party's proposal for firming up a Third Front, Bardhan said, "The SP, Leftists and other smaller parties should sink their differences and come together. I endorse the SP's proposal for a Third Front and let us work to give it a final shape."
