Two college students were shot dead by militants at a local shrine in Baramullah late on Friday evening.

Police said the militants opened a volley of fire at Gauher Ahmed Mir and Sajjad Gul -- students of a local college. Both died on the spot.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
