The Election Commission, after having ordered the transfer of 3 district magistrates in Bihar, is likely to transfer nearly half a dozen more district magistrates for their unsatisfactory performance with regard to election related work.

Sources in the State Election Department said the Election Commission was unhappy with some District Magistrates for the tardy progress in preparation of electoral photo identity cards and execution of non bailable warrants of arrest against criminals.

"The Election Commission has expressed its displeasure over the working style of some more district magistrates," officials said on Saturday.

According to sources, district magistrates, including those of Siwan, Gopalganj, and Buxar, are in the firing line of the Election Commission.

The Election Commission on Thursday ordered the transfer of 3 district magistrates of Khagaria, Jehanabad and Sheohar for their 'very poor' performance with regard to the preparation of electoral photo identity cards.

Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon, during his two day visit to the state this week to review preparedness of polls, said that a full commission would visit the state next month to take stock of the situation before announcing the dates for polls.

The Election Commission has made it clear that the next Assembly polls are likely to be held in October-November this year
