Virtually breaking ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, suspended party leader Uma Bharti has accused the party leadership of being incapable of carrying out its basic responsibilities.

She has said it was time to create a 'new mechanism'. Amid strong indications that the party would expel her in a day or two, Bharti shot off a three-page reply to BJP chief L K Advani over the November 30 show-cause notice, saying the party was at present suffering from 'infection'.

"The BJP seems to be caught up in the cobweb of power politics," the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister said, claiming she was targeted because she raised her voice over the party's consitutional and democratic values.

Bharti cited Jan Sangh founder Deen Dayal Upadhayay's comments that the Sangh would keep creating its new political wings if existing ones became corrupt.

"Panditji (Upadhayay) said they would keep creating new Jan Sanghs if the existing ones became corrupt. He said the creation of new Jan Sanghs would be a continuous affair," she remarked.

Bharati, however, called her contribution to the party as that of a 'disciplined soldier', but alleged she was accused of indiscipline only after she raised issues central to the party's founding principles.

"Sychophancy, shrewdness and intrigue are increasingly taking prominence in the party. It is now being felt that the BJP leadership is incapable of carrying out its basic political responsibilities involving hardcore nationalism, social equality, love for the poor and the deprived, idealism and purity," she added.
