Cold wave conditions have gripped many parts of North India and cold winds blowing from Rajasthan on Wednesday have brought in that extra chill in the weather on Thursday.

Delhi woke up to a misty, chilly morning as cold wave conditions gripped the national capital with temperature dipping sharply to 3.6 degrees celsius.

The minimum temperature was four degrees below normal and would hover around five degrees throughout the day, the Meteorological Department said.

Low temperature makes it the second coldest day of the season after Monday when the mercury had dipped to 3.1 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest day since December 31, 1999.

Delhi had recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which was two degrees below normal, while the maximum was 21.5 degrees.
