Two activists of Bharatiya Kamgar Sena were arrested and seven others were detained by the city police for allegedly assaulting the members of Samarth Kamgar Sena at the domestic airport, Santacruz, Mumbai Monday.

Airport police said Narendra Davli and Mayur Khange, activists of Shiv-Sena controlled BKS, were arrested for assaulting Pramod Kherade, member of Samarth Kamgar Sena, controlled by former Sena strongman and now State Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.

Seven other members of BKS were also detained for attacking another Samarth Kamgar Sena activist -- Sharad Sawant, police added.

Police said Kherade, who is an employee of Air Deccan, had left BKS and joined the Samarth Kamgar Sena. Davli and Khange reportedly had a heated argument with Kherade over the latter's leaving their organisation, following which they allegedly attacked him.

Kherade then went to the police station and lodged a complaint.

Subsequently, both the accused were arrested.

Later, several other supporters of Rane had an altercation with the BKS activists over the issue, which resulted in a clash between the two sides.
