A school student, Anand, son of  Indian Railways Construction International Limited Deputy General Manager B B Singh, was abducted in Patna by unidentified criminals for ransom.

The police said Anand was kidnapped from Pataliputra Colony, a posh locality in Patna, on Saturday.

Singh said when his son did not return home on Saturday evening after playing cricket at a nearby  field, they did not suspect abduction. But when he did not return till 9.30 pm, Singh lodged a first information report at a local police station.

Singh denied that he received calls for ransom from abductors. Sources closed to him hinted that the abductors had demanded a heavy ransom for the release.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police N H Khan said that a police team was constituted to recover the boy soon and that the police are investigating the case seriously.

"We have been treating this as a kidnapping case and have also got some vital clue," said Khan.
