The prosecution in the Red Fort shootout case on Friday said there was strong evidence that Shahanshah Alam, one of the suspects, had secured a fake ration card and a driving license for alleged Pakistani Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist and main suspect Ashfaq Ahmed which the latter had used as proof of identity.

Forwarding written submissions before Special Judge O P Saini in reply to arguments by Alam's counsel, the prosecution said Alam, with the help of the other two accused in the case Devender and Rajiv Kumar Malhotra, had secured a fake ration card with a Ghaziabad address and a driving licence.
'The accused, who was running a motor driving training college at Ghaziabad, did this service for Ashfaq for monetary consideration,' the prosecution said.
Alam has been charged under sections 120 B (conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code. However, his cousel had contended that 'the licenses were in fact issued by the Regional Transport Office officials whom the prosecution had not only refused to name as accused but had summoned as witnesses.'
The court would continue hearing the matter on July 26.
