Maintaining that there were 'excesses on both sides' in the Gurgaon violence, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said a judicial inquiry by a retired high court judge would be conducted into the incident.
"A demand was made in Parliament for a judicial inquiry instead of a magisterial inquiry, which has already been ordered. Now, I am going to order a judicial inquiry by a retired high court judge," Hooda told reporters in Delhi.
He said the decision was taken after discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
"There will be a fair judicial inquiry," Hooda said, adding those found guilty would not be spared.
Hooda said his government had a pro-labour policy and would look into the interests of labourers and workers. "A solution (to the Honda workers imbroglio) will be found," he said.
