Sanjay Nirupam, who recently quit the Shiv Sena, on Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded an inquiry into the allotment of Reliance Infocomm shares to 'fake' companies belonging to businessmen said to be close to Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan.

"The meeting was very satisfactory and positive," he told reporters adding he impressed upon the Prime Minister the need for a "transparent" inquiry into the serious matter given the fact that the telecom ministry under Mahajan and later changed rules almost daily to suit a particular player.

Replying to questions he said no party politics was discussed and indicated that he would take a decision about his new political address in two-three days.
He had "serious" offers from the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal to join them, he claimed.
To a question whether his campaign against Reliancee Infocomm was to benefit other cellular operators, he said he had raised his voice in Parliament whenever the government suffered revenue losses in the telecom sector due to changes in policy.
