Sex workers in Rohtas district of Bihar on Tuesday demanded action against Special Task Force jawans for raping and molesting them.

The sex workers also sought Bihar Governor Buta Singh's intervention to ensure their safety after the police refused to lodge a first information report against the STF jawans.

The STF personnel on Sunday evening allegedly raped and molested a dozen sex workers from brothels on the outskirts of Sasaram town in Rohtas district.

The workers and their family members protested in front of the Rohtas district magistrate office and also shouted slogans against the police administration.

The STF jawans, who were reportedly drunk, also beat up men at the brothels.

STF sub-inspector Shashi Bhusan denied that his jawans had molested the workers.

He said his jawans did not step out of their camp after dusk.

The camp is situated adjacent to the red light area.

However, Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Nokha, Rameshwar Prasad, said he would stage a dharna in front of the Bihar Raj Bhavan and also the Union Home Ministry if the jawans weren't arrested immediately.
