Former Samata Party president Jaya Jaitley admitted before the Central Bureau of Investigation that she was offered Rs 2 lakh by Tehelka reporters posing as arms dealers in George Fernandes' house, television reports said.
However, CBI spokesperson G Mohanty told rediff.com that he will neither confirm nor deny reports that claimed Jaya took Rs 2 lakh from the two scribes.
"The only thing I can confirm is that she was questioned for two hours," Mohanty said.
Jaitley was questioned by the CBI in connection with a corruption case registered against her following the Tehelka expose on corruption in defence deals.
Jaitley was questioned for nearly three hours by the anti-corruption unit of the agency.
She told the agency that she vaguely remembered someone approaching her for party donations, CBI added.
The former party president said she had never given any assurance to the two reporters of Tehelka who were posing as arms dealers for clinching a defence deal, they said.
Asked if she would be questioned again on Thursday, Mohanty said she will not be questioned.
