Andhra Pradesh and Punjab have agreed to provide 700-800 MW power to Maharashtra on availability basis.

The state electricity board has decided to reduce load shedding after additional supply is available to it.

Andhra Pradesh has already been providing 150 MW to Maharashtra since April 30, 2005.

Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, which would provide power on availability basis, started supplying electricity to MSEB from Tuesday, an MSEB release said.

The press release said that as the schedule for getting such power was not fixed, the changes in load shedding could not be decided beforehand.

Andhra Pradesh would provide an additional 600 MW power while Punjab has consented to provide 300-400 MW power till May 15, 2005.

Maharashtra is facing a heavy power shortage of over 3,500 MW which has led to heavy load shedding.
