The Delhi University student, who was abducted and gangraped earlier this month, identified one of the four accused in a test identification parade in Delhi's Tihar jail on Tuesday.

The Delhi police arrested Ajit Katiyar, a driver with a private company, last week from Kanpur. Three of the accused are still at large.

Deputy Commissioner of South West Delhi Dipendra Pathak told rediff.com said that the police would ask for the remand of the accused.

"The victim identified Ajit, who was driving the Santro car when the other three men raped the girl," he said.

The Delhi police is now planning to move the concerned court and seek maximum remand so that they can interrogate him.

The 22-year-old girl was abducted from Dhaula Kuan area of south Delhi and raped in a moving car on May 8.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit led a delegation of woman legislators to the home minister Shivraj Patil and pressed him to take prompt action to ensure the safety of women in the capital city.
