Demanding an 'impartial' inquiry into the twin blasts in the Delhi cinema halls, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the supreme body managing Sikh shrines in the country, on Monday alleged the blasts were a 'conspiracy to defame Sikhs'.

"The SGPC strongly condemns the inhuman blasts, which were an attempt to show the peaceloving Sikh community in bad light," SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur said, while slamming the Delhi government for the 'security lapse'.

She also blamed the producer of the controversial film Jo Bole So Nihal for screening it despite the committee demanding a ban on it.

Bibi said the distributors withdrew the film from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh after the SGPC had raised objections to the title and some scenes in the film.

However, it was allowed to continue in Delhi, that too without appropriate security, she said.

Meanwhile, a red alert has been sounded in Punjab and special barriers have been set up to check passing vehicles, police sources said.
