A police team was sent on Wednesday to New Delhi from Bihar to execute the non-bailable warrant of arrest against Union Minister Jaiprakash Yadav. He has been charged with misuse of official position to cause the 'illegal escape' of his brother and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate for state assembly polls, Vijay Prakash, from police custody.

"The Superintendent of Police, Jamui, Arvind Kumar has sent a police team headed by a DSP-rank officer to New Delhi to arrest Yadav," official sources said, adding the team might be on its way or would have reached Delhi.

A Jamui court had, on October 27, turned down the plea of Yadav, Union Minister of State for Water Resource Development, for anticipatory bail in the case in which non-bailable warrants of arrest were also pending against suspended police officer Mukteshwar Prasad, an independent candidate, Ashok Ram, besides six others.

Vijay Prakash had surrendered before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate R K Srivastava on Monday. The Union minister's criminal revision petition against issue of NBW by Srivastava under a non-bailable section would come up for hearing before a Jamui court on November 10.

Sources said the bodyguards of the district armed police from Munger and Jamui provided to the Union minister, too, had not responded to the notices sent to them to help assist in the execution of the warrant against Yadav.

"The bodyguards are also untraceable along with the minister," they said, adding the SP was learnt to have written to higher authorities recommending stern punitive action against them.
