For years Bollywood and other affluent citizens of Mumbai have been terrorised by Salem and his gang. On Friday, the city finally got a glimpse of the gangster. A thin, almost frightened looking man in a white striped T-shirt. Extradited from Portugal on Thursday, Salem was remanded to police custody until November 23 by an anti-terrorism court. He was produced in court amidst tight security before the designated court hearing the March 12, 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, in which he is a prime accused. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation, Salem has been extradited in connection with eight cases, including the blasts case, two cases of passport forgery registered in Lucknow, three cases of extortion registered in Delhi and another murder case. Monica Bedi, the Bollywood starlet and Salem's girlfriend, will be taken to Hyderabad and produced before a court there on or before November 14.
