Reeling under an outrageous late night Naxalite attack on the district jail in Jehanabad, Bihar on Monday requisitioned 25 companies of central paramilitary forces to take on the attackers.
The outlaws managed to free 341 prisoners, including one of their leaders, in the raid.
The morning after the attack, utter chaos prevailed in the jail premises, the gates of which were open till around noon. Anxious relatives thronged it to enquire about the whereabouts of their relatives, even as one more body was recovered taking the toll to four, official sources said.
The body of the youth was found near the police lines and a wounded Naxalite of the banned CPI-Maoist organisation identified as Manoj Kandu was arrested.
Kandu, who was believed to have received injuries in a series of bomb blasts that ripped through the south Bihar town, has been rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition.
A crowd of angry relatives of inmates of the jail manhandled Jehanabad District Magistrate Rana Avadhesh when he went to take stock of the situation.
Bihar Chief Secretary G S Kang has sent a report to the Union home ministry on the attack and sought 25 additional companies of CPMF as 600-odd companies of the central forces already present are engaged in conduct of ongoing assembly elections.
Official sources said over a dozen live bombs, wires, batteries and a police uniform were found at different places in the town and people who are out on the streets in thousands were asked not to venture near them or touch unclaimed objects.
