The Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday said the results of the Bihar Assembly elections would have a profound impact on the United Progressive Alliance coalition in the Centre, which may fall apart in a year.

"The results of the Bihar polls will have a great impact on the Centre. The UPA alliance may break in a year," JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav said here.

Expressing satisfaction at the latest trend indicating an NDA sweep, he said the alliance was supported by members of all castes and communities and 'caste equations played no role'.

"People in Bihar have realised that Lalu Prasad would never change and he will never do anything for the state," he said. Yadav described Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan as an 'old friend' but said they would join hands in the present scenario as the NDA was looking at a comfortable majority.

The JD(U) leader said the main task before the new government in Bihar would be to bring the administration onto the right track and show people positive changes within six months.
