The Patna High Court on Friday observed that the Fundamental Right to Life and Personal Liberty was not protected in Bihar in reference to police failure to trace an abducted schoolboy Golu.
A division bench, comprising justices R N Prasad and S N Hussain, observed before extending the deadline for the police to recover and produce Golu till October 17 that unchecked growth of such heinous crime like kidnapping is a curse on the society.
Blame-game on over abducted schoolboy
The citizens of the state are living under fear as the state has failed to protect their freedom.
Despite extending the deadline for recovering and producing kidnapped schoolboy Gaurav Kumar alias Golu before it, the court observed that Article 21 of the Constitution guarantees protection of life and personal liberty. But the spate of kidnapping and rise in crime graph reflect that the custodians of the law have failed to protect this fundamental right of the citizens.
Filmmaker appeals to Golu's abductors
For the third time, the deadline for the Patna Police had been extended. First it had set October 1 as deadline, then extended it to October 4 and on Friday the police got time till October 17.
Golu, a Class 4 student of DAV school in Danapur, was abducted on September 20 while on his way home after getting off the school bus on September 20.
