The National Democratic Alliance on Wednesday called for a re-poll in more than 45 booths spread over 13 constituencies that went to polls in the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections.

It also congratulated the Election Commission for ensuring free, fair and largely peaceful polling.

"We are satisfied with the arrangements made by the commission for the second phase of elections, but at the same time we request the commission to deploy Central Para Military Forces at all the booths in the next two rounds of polls," Janata Dal-United national spokesman Shambhu Nath Srivastava and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha said.

Srivastava said the commission should ensure deployment of paramilitary personnel at all the booths where polling is scheduled for November 13 and November 19.

"Para-military personnel were deployed in 80 to 85% of the booths during Wednesday's poll, while rest of the booths had homeguards or district armed police personnel," he complained.

Sinha, on ther other hand, charged that some local authorities tried to create obstacles during the poll in league with Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders leading to slow voting, the complaints of which have been received from different booths.

"This practice must be stopped in the next two phases of elections," he said and urged the EC to ensure that genuine voters could cast their votes.

The two leaders demanded that the EC order repoll in 45 booths in Jamalpur, Rosera, Gopalpur, Kahalgaon, Manihari, Rupauli, Raghopur, Vaishali, Balia, Nathnagar, Sakara, Bochaha and Hasanpur constituencies following complaints of electoral malpractices.
