UPA seat-sharing for Bihar polls finalised: Lalu

Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said the United Progressive Alliance partners had reached a seat-sharing accord under which his party would contest 175 seats while leaving 51 for the Congress, nine for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and eight for the Nationalist Congress Party.

"The four UPA allies have arrived at a perfect seat-sharing agreement to defeat the communal and fascist forces in the coming assembly elections in Bihar," Prasad announced while addressing a joint press conference with Congress leader Iqbal Singh.

LJP to contest 190 seats in Bihar polls

He, however, did not not rule out a friendly fight among the allies at a few places.

Prasad said the UPA would announce a common minimum programme by September 30.

CPI(ML) dumps Third front

The Congress contested the February elections in alliance with Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party.
