A special Central Bureau of Investigation court Saturday sentenced 31 people, including 24 government officials, to various prison terms ranging from three to six years for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 1.05 crore from Ranchi treasury over a decade ago.
CBI Judge S N Prasad convicted 32 people and acquitted four others chargesheeted by the agency in the fodder scam case.
The judge did not pronounce the sentence against another convict Sanual Haque as he was not present in the court.
Prominent former government officials sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5.2 lakh each are former regional director of Animal Husbandry Department K N Jha, former project officer Dr B N Srivastava
and former additional director (planning) K Prasad.
Former account officers Nityanand Singh and Braj Bhusan Prasad were awarded six years RI and a fine of Rs 4 lakh each.
Five other former officers of Animal Husbandry Department -- Dr Ram Prakash Ram, Dr G P Tripathi, Dr Badrul Islam, Dhanjay Sharma and Rajendra Goswami were sent to jail for four years and slapped 1.95 lakh fine each.
The judge awarded 14 other officials and seven suppliers three years RI and imposed separate amounts as fine.
The four aquitted are Rajni Ranjan Kumar, Basant Kumar Sinha, Surendra Kumar Sinha and Rama Shankar Singh.
