After several disruptions, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day on Thursday.
Members of the National Democratic Alliance and the Left clashed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, over the opposition's charge against Speaker Somnath Chatterjee of "suppressing" its voice.
The Lok Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes as Left members accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA of casting aspersions on the Speaker.
They vehemently objected to NDA's charge that the Speaker was not allowing the opposition to have its say.
Amid the din for about five minutes after the Lok Sabha met for the day, the Speaker first adjourned the House till 11.30 am and when similar scenes were witnessed again, till 1 pm.
The Left members particularly took objection to a letter written by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Chatterjee, in which he said the Speaker was unable to win as much confidence of the opposition as of ruling benches.
They sought an apology from the senior BJP leader. The NDA members retaliated, triggering pandemonium, during which nothing could be heard.
