Police have arrested four persons in connection with an incident in which a woman and her five minor children were torched to death in their mud hut in Rampur Shyamchand village under Raghopur in the Vaisali district of Bihar. But the main accused in the incident Jagat Rai is still at large.

Forty eight hours after the six members of a family including five children and a pregnant woman were burnt alive police have arrested four person including wife of Jagat Rai.

According to police sources, two brothers in law and a nephew of Rai were also arrested in the case.

Vaisali Superintendent of Police Prita Verma said a special police team was constituted to nab the killers. The team had raided several villages in search to arrest them.

Bihar DGP A R Sinha said three of the 12 accused named in the FIR are being interrogated. Police is under tremendous pressure to arrest Rai and his henchmen, who are involved in the brutal killing.

Police have already moved to court for the property attachment orders against the accused.

The poor woman and her five children were burnt alive in their hut because her husband Vijendra Mahto refused to withdraw a police complaint against Rai for the theft of a buffalo.

Mahto was admitted in the Patna Medical College and Hospital with severe burn injuries and after struggling for life his condition stated to be stable Tuesday.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar had ordered a high level inquiry into the incident.
