The Supreme Court Monday issued notices to the Lok Sabha Speaker and some others on a petition by former Bahujan Samaj Party member of Parliament Raja Ram Pal, caught on camera in the cash-for-query scam, challenging his expulsion from the House.
The three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal, also referred the matter to a constitutional bench.
The court also issued notice to Attorney General Milon K Banerji seeking his assistance in the matter as the question involved in the petition required interpretation of the constitutional provisions.
However, the bench declined an interim relief to the expelled MP. He had sought restraining the Election Commission from announcing the poll schedule for the constituency, which he had represented.

Ten members of the Lok Sabha were expelled for accepting bribe for asking questions related to parliamentary proceedings.
The issue according to the court is whether, under Section 105 of the Constitution, Lok Sabha has the right to expel elected members.
It's a constitutional matter and hence, it has been referred to a constitutional bench, the court observed.
