Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday met chief ministers of states ruled by the party and discussed the rising prices of essential commodities in the backdrop of growing criticism of the United Progressive Alliance government over the issue.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Sonia's political secretary Ahmed Patel and 11 chief ministers of Congress-ruled states are attending the meeting at 10 Janpath.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is reportedly indisposed and his deputy Rajinder Kaur Bhattal is representing the state.
Sonia on Tuesday held consultations with party general secretaries and Congress Working Committee members who are in charge of states to get their feedback.
