Kalam meets Bihar legislators, outlines development plan

President A P J Abdul Kalam on Tuesday addressed a joint session of the two houses of Bihar legislature soon after he arrived here on his short visit.

Later in the afternoon he will address a function of the Bihar Chamber of Commerce before returning to New Delhi.

In nearly an hour long address in English, which was translated into Hindi for Bihar's legislators, he said that for India's development, Bihar development is crucial. " Bihar's development is vital for developed India" President Kalam said.

It was a historic speech of Kalam as it was a first time a President addressed legislators of both the houses of state assembly.

He also gave an outline of his action plan for development and prosperity of Bihar.

He pointed out that Bihar has potential for turnaround and would become a developed state. "People of Bihar have inherent capability to face any challenge and situation, they have the potential to take on the challenge of development," he said.

He urged the legislators to work hard to make the environment in the state conducive for development.
