Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has said he wants to become the prime minister of India.
Outlining his future plans in an exclusive interview to NDTV, Lalu said: 'I want to become the prime minister for sure. But, I will not quarrel for it. No matter which corner of the country I go, people always greet me, 'Oh Lalu, aye Lalu.' It's the greatest of blessings, people love me.'
Replying to an accusation that he criminalized Bihar in his time as chief minister, Lalu claimed that Nitish Kumar's government has made things worse.
'Nitish Kumar is junior to me, I know him very well. He is nothing. There are two chief ministers in Bihar, one from the Bharatiya Janata Party and another from the Janata Dal-United.'
On the Bihar elections, Lalu said, 'Yes I lost, but by a thin margin. If all the United Progressive Alliance partners were together, we would not have lost. If an election is conducted now, we will sweep the elections. Mulayam Singh Yadav had damaged me there, and I'll ensure there's payback.'
Lalu brushes off the fodder scam issue by saying, 'That's a frame up that is pending before the court. That was a propaganda to tarnish my image.'
Asked whether there is any probability that he will join a possible third front, Lalu said, 'There is no chance. I will not shake hands with fascist and the communal forces.'
