Two senior leaders from Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal have joined Nitish Kumar's ruling Janata Dal-United.

Shivanand Tiwari and Bhola Prasad Singh joined JD-U on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Both Tiwari and Singh, considered closed to Lalu, have resigned from the RJD. Tiwari, who was national spokesperson of RJD and a former minister, quit RJD last week Singh quit RJD on Friday.

Nitish welcomed their entry in JD-U and hinted that some more RJD leaders will join the party in the coming months.

He told newspersons that Tiwari was one of the founder leaders of the Samata Party along with him. Later, Samata Party became JD-U.

Tiwari after joining the JD-U accused Lalu of promoting his family members in the party, instead of sincere party workers.

He refuted remarks saying he was a turncoat and an opportunist politician.

It was speculated for the last few months that Tiwari and Singh would join JD-U as their relationship with Lalu soured.
