Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar neither defended or supported George Fernandes over the allegations of his involvement in the defence scam.

Nitish Kumar preferred not to make any statement on the issue related with veteran JD (U) leader George Fernandes after Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a first information report against former defence minister George Fernandes.

When  a section of reporters on Tuesday night asked him to say on George Fernandes issue , Nitish Kumar reacted like  a shrewd and matured leader by saying that he was not aware about the issue and not in a position to say anything right now.

"I personally believe that George Fernandes is an honest national leader and capable, there is nothing to question him on this" Nitish Kumar said.

By keeping mum on involvement of George Fernandes in defence scams, Nitish Kumar made it clear that law will takes its own course.

It is said in JD (U) circles here that Nitish Kumar was unhappy with George Fernandes since he openly criticised his 11 months old government in Bihar.

George Fernandes was guru to Nitish Kumar merely a year ago and not only a leader as JD (U) national president.

After Nitish came to power in Bihar in November 2005, their relation slowly turned bitter. Early in 2006 when George Fernandes was defeated and replaced by Sharad Yadav as JD (U) president with the active help of Nitish Kumar, George Fernandes started criticising the Nitish government.
