The condition of Swadeshi ideologue K Govindacharya, admitted to a private hospital in New Delhi with suspected blood clot in his brain, has improved. He has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit, hospital sources said on Monday.
Govindacharya was admitted to Apollo hospital on Saturday night after he fainted at a function in Hissar.
"He is in a stable condition and has regained consciousness. He was shifted to the ward from the Intensive Care Unit on Monday," a hospital source told PTI.
"The doctors reviewed his condition and have waived off surgery. It has been decided that the blood clot on his brain will be removed through medication. We cannot describe his condition to be out of danger, though it has improved," they said.
Govindacharya was addressing a function of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch in Hissar when he fainted.
Senior BJP leader and former deputy prime minister L K Advani, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP general secretary Arun Jaitly and VHP leader Ashok Singhal have visited him at the hospital.
"A team of doctors are keeping a close watch on him and he would remain in the hospital for at least another
week," they said.
