The Bharatiya Janata Party has termed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement focussing Rahul Gandhi as future Prime Minister as a "sycophantic style of Congress politics."

"The prime minister, by saying that Rahul Gandhi is future Prime Minister of India, has reiterated sycophantic style which is part of Congress politics," BJP spokesperson Rajeev Pratap Rudy told reporters on Tuesday.

Rudy was speaking on a series of remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during UP election campaign. He took a dig at Rahul's contention on Indian freedom struggle.

"His remarks that Gandhi family was responsible for independence show fallow approach of the Congress party. It also demeans millions who participated and sacrificed for freedom struggle," Rudy said.

"His reiteration that his family was responsible for division of Pakistan makes mockery of diplomatic stand taken by Congress party," the BJP spokesperson said.

"Surprisingly, the Ministry of External Affairs has not been in a position to rebut strong remarks made by Pakistan post-Gandhi's statements," he said.

The BJP leader feels that since last one-and-half decade, India has been emphatically stating that Pakistan is perpetrating terrorism in India and Rahul Gandhi's statement will dilute the stand.

Rudy dared Rahul to speak on stand of Gandhi family on Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, 1984 Delhi Sikh massacre and what prompted Gandhi family to impose emergency in India.
