Bharatiya Janata Party ideologue K Govindacharya, whose condition worsened on Wednesday and was operated upon to remove a blood clot in his brain, is in a stable condition and is recovering.

Govindacharya, 64, who was admitted to Apollo hospital on April 7 after he fainted at a function in Hisar in Haryana, has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit after a two-hour long operation.

"He is in a stable condition and is recovering. The operation was successful. But he is still not out of danger," hospital sources told PTI.

Govindacharya was responding well to medication till his condition suddenly deteriorated Monday night.

"There were sudden complications and on Wednesday morning doctors decided to operate upon him," the source said.

He started vomiting and sweating on Monday night and doctors conducted tests, which showed that the blood clot had swollen, making it necessary for them to remove it through operation, they said.

Doctors had earlier decided to dissolve the clot through medication.

"He was very restless and we thought it was due to the side-effects of the medications. In fact, he was to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. But the sudden complications made the doctors decide to operate upon him," the source said.

Govindacharya was addressing a function of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch in Hisar when he fainted.
