A Delhi court on Friday remanded three Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants, who were arrested by Delhi Police from a popular shopping arcade in New Delhi, to ten days police custody.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini remanded Mohammad Hassan (28), a Pakistani national, and Shafaqat Iqbal (29) and Shabbir Ahmad (25) -- both residents of Jammu and Kashmir -- to ten days police custody till May seven.
Appearing for Special Cell, Senior Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan sought ten days police custody for facilitating the interrogation, which the court accepted.
The accused were planning to disrupt public life by carrying out terrorist activities on the 150th anniversary of the Indian Sepoy Mutiny, Mohan contended before the court.
"We need to arrest two other persons Vinod, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir and Raj, a resident of Patna, as disclosed by Mohammad Hassan," Mohan argued.
Hassan also disclosed that he was being trained under the direct supervision of top leaders of Hizbul Muzahideen, a militant outfit.
The three militants were arrested by a team of the Special Cell of Delhi Police. Among the seizures made from them included 2 kg RDX, a detonator and some hand grenades.
