The fair sex better be warned. An organisation for protection of men's rights has been launched in Chennai.

Laws for the protection of women are being misused to harass men of late, T Murugaiyan, the president of the association told a press conference.

The acts were enacted to protect women from men's atrocities but these laws were being misused to destroy men, he said.

The prevention of dowry act was the most abused to put men behind bars, he said adding women's organisations resort to 'unlawful methods' like staging dharna in front of the police stations to presurrise the law enforcing officials to take action against men, though they were aware that the men were not responsible for the alleged crime.

"What could be settled within the four walls of a house are being taken to streets, showing men in bad light," he said.

His association would take up several issues concerning men, create awareness and help men, who became "victims of the abuse of law," he said.

"While society is sympathetic to the violation of women's rights, cases of male abuse are rarely taken seriously," he said.

His association would be a boon to men who had become victims of abuse at the hands of their wives, he said.
