10 killed in Sri Lanka violence August 15, 2007 15:32 IST
Nine Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam guerrillas and a government soldier were killed in separate clashes in northern Sri Lanka [Images], the Defence Ministry said on Wednesday. Troops and the LTTE exchanged fire along a de facto border in the Wanni region on Tuesday evening, the ministry said. It said six Tigers and a soldier were killed in the gunfight. Another three Tigers were shot dead by army personnel at Weli Oya on Tuesday, the ministry said adding, troops suffered no casualties.
