Expressing his "unhappiness" with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), veteran BJP leader and former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel has chosen to abstain from voting in the on-going state Assembly elections.

Keshubhai, who is a registered voter from Rajkot-II constituency, has decided not to cast his vote, said sources close to the leader.

In order to expresses his "unhappiness" to the party leadership, he has decided not to cast his vote, sources added.
Rajkot-II is also the constituency from where Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala is fighting as a BJP candidate in the first phase of Gujarat assembly elections.

An ace detractor of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Keshubhai who was the main source of inspiration behind the rebel movement in the BJP had earlier announced that he will not be campaigning for the party in this year's elections.

Keshubhai, who largely remained behind the dissident movement in the state, had spoken out publicly against Modi once elections were announced in the state.

The BJP rebels, who quit the party and joined the Congress, have been time and again using Keshubhai's image and remarks made against him to garner votes for themselves.

Several advertisements depicting Keshubhai and his anti-Modi remarks have also appeared in various local dailies in the run-up to the Gujarat elections.
