The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday virtually rejected Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assurance that no attempt was being made to divide people on caste or religious lines in the eleventh five-year plan.

The main Opposition party insisted that the 'camouflaged statement' of the Prime Minister has done very little to ally the apprehensions raised by it and claimed that allocation of plan resources is being made on a religious basis.

"The earmarking of 15 per cent of the plan fund and the Prime Minister's 15-point programme with Rs 4,000 crore marked for Muslim dominated districts demolishes the secular contours of the Constitution," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

He added, "The plan document is sans the poor and down trodden and it is anti-people with a primary focus on targeting the Muslim community for petty electoral gains and the camouflaged statement of the Prime Minister has done very little to ally the apprehensions raised by the BJP."

Rudy went on to add that the country was aghast at the shocking provision of distribution of plan resources on a religious basis and described the Congress-led government's vision as 'completely myopic and outrageous'.

Asserting that the BJP was in favour of inclusive growth, he said the party was against "apportioning of the national wealth and singling it out for a religious community as it is divisive and unconstitutional."
