Taslima Nasreen was told by government officials that she will not be allowed to return to Kolkata, the controversial Bangladeshi writer told PTI in an exclusive interview.

Speaking from an undisclosed destination, Taslima said that she had told government officials, "I am not a criminal that I will not be allowed to return to Kolkata".

Hinting that her movements at her place of stay were restricted, she said "I want to lead a normal life again."

"I told the government officials that I be allowed to lead a normal life, at least in Delhi," she said.

"I am waiting to lead a normal life again," said the writer who was hounded out of Kolkata following violent protests against her allegedly anti-Islamic writings. The protests were led by a little known minority group which demanded that her visa to stay in India be cancelled.
