Delhi's New Year's Eve revellers relying on the Metro Rail will have to make alternate arrangements to get home. The management of Metro Rail has decided to stop services at 8:30 pm on Monday.
"We have not interacted with them (Metro Rail management) and asked them to extend the time. If there is any such development, we would let the media know about it," Rajan Bhagat, assistant commissioner of police told rediff.com.
In order to keep the capital's eve-teasers and trouble-makers at bay, 44 additional battalions of paramilitary forces would be put on duty. "A complete rank and file led by Delhi police commissioner Y S Dadwal would be monitoring the traffic to ensure that everything passes off smoothly," he said.
Police Control Room vans will also be pressed into service. "This entire security force would be in place from 10 pm onwards and would continue to keep vigil until 3 in the morning," Bhagat said.
The police will cordon off especially the city's Connaught Place area. Barricades would be put up all over the capital and those driving under the influence are likely to be fined heavily on the spot.
