Foiling a major terrorist attack in Delhi soon after an incident-free Republic Day, the Delhi police on Sunday arrested four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, including a Pakistani, in the Connaught Place area after a fierce encounter.

Police also recovered a large quantity of explosives from them.

"Four activists of the JeM were arrested near Ranjit Singh flyover near Connaught Place in the New Delhi police area," a senior police official said.

According to the official, the four were arrested by the police after the encounter. The arrested have been identified as Pakistani citizen Shahid Ghafoor, Bashir Ahmad, Fayyaz Lone and Abdul Majid -- all residents of Kashmir.

There were no casualties in the encounter.

Police recovered a large haul of explosives including 3 kg of RDX, 4 detonators, a timer and 6 hand grenades from them, apart from $10,000 and Rs 50,000 in Indian currency.

The four were being interrogated in order to ascertain their plan, the official added.
