The mercury on Monday plummetted to the lowest in the capital this winter measuring 2.6 degree Celsius as Delhiites pulled out more woolens to fight the biting cold.

Monday's minimum of 2.6 degree Celsius is four notches below normal and the temperature in the night would hover around 2 Degrees Celsius, the Met Department said.

The minimum temperature will be around two degrees for the two more days, the weatherman said attributing the trend to the north-westerly winds and cold winds blowing from Punjab.

Maximum temperature at around 8 am on Monday was 18.1 degree Celsius, three degree Celsius below normal. On Sunday it was 18.7 degree Celsius.

Delhi has been experiencing chilly weather for the past two days with minimum temperature at around 4 degrees. Air traffic at international and domestic airport was normal as there was no fog.

"It was a normal day at the airport. Visibility was above 2000 meters and all flights took off at their scheduled time," said airport sources.
